From November 12 - 24, 2007, participants in the International Center for Islam and Pluralism's program on e-learning for Islamic Transformation in Pesantren took part in a training program on IT usage hosted by the University of Indonesia at its Depok campus. In this program prospective Community Organisers for ICIP's e-learning program were taken through topics on the basics of networks, internet, applications, website development and the Learning Management System.
This training was aimed at preparing participants for the nation-wide launching of the e-learning program in early 2008. Participants undertook 6 hours of classes each day on a different topic covering both online and offline aspects of computers as the participants had different levels of skill, with some already being well acquainted with computers while others were complete beginners. The main focus of the training was on use of the internet, website development as well as Learning Management Systems, as these are the areas which the participants will handle for their respective regions in their role as Community Organisers for the e-learning program.
