 PesantrenGlobal is being developed by the International Center for Islam and Pluralism , and supported by the Ford Foundation , in order to respond to the issues of national education, education in the Islamic community, and pesantren. The pesantren taking part in the early development of this program are PP An Nizhomiyyah (Pandeglang, Banten), PP Al Kenaniyah (Jakarta Timur, DKI Jakarta), PP Hasyim Asy'ari (Jepara, Jawa Tengah), PP Raudhatul Falah (Rembang, Jawa Tengah), PP Miftahul Huda Al Mushr’i (Cianjur, Jawa Barat), PP Al Mizan (Majalengka, Jawa Barat), PP Nurul Jadid (Probolinggo, Jawa Timur), and PP Nurul Islam (Jember, Jawa Timur). The majority of these pesantren were chosen because they are located in areas with high levels of poverty, low levels of education and a low ranking on the Human Development Index (HDI).
PesantrenGlobal offers open learning and distance learning in the form of Equivalent Education (Pendidikan Kesetaraan) Packets B & C, Life Skills and Civic Education. It is expected that this program will increase the number of high school graduates and expand national education by promoting the transformation of Muslim communities to become more educated, skilled, enlightened and broad-minded in responding to the world. |

 The packet C program is the same level with Senior High School. Just like the Senior High School, this program also conducting a national examination annually. Al-Mizan with its center, named PKBM Bina Muda Mandiri has been organized national examination twice for packet C program.

I nna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Roji’uun. KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), a lovely man by most of the Indonesian people, especially for the Nahdhiyyin (Nahdlatul Ulama’s community), has passed away. It made Indonesian citizen shocked, sad, and cried because of losing one of the best people who has very big and important role in building and developing the nation. The crew of Open Distance and Electronic Learning (ODEL) and the member of “Pesantren Global”, expressing the deep condolence on the passed away of Gus Dur, the Indonesia former president, nation’s guide and adviser who has taught about the real meaning and implementation of plurality.
